Meeting Point:
11:00 AM at Budapest, Erzsébet tér (square) at the steps of Gödör club, behind the pool. This is next to Deák ter, the junction of all metro lines.

See first an outstanding outdoor museum about the communist statues, which used to stand on the streets and squares of Budapest. Your guide will explain you the history of communism and tell you about the statues. After this you get an insight into the nearby 30 kilometres long wine cellar system of Budapest inside a limestone hill. See the third largest oak cask of the world and other old wood curved casks. At the end sit down in a fancy wine tasting room and taste 10-12 wines from all over Hungary including the most famous Tokay.

Your guide will explain you how communism started in Hungary including the reasons and the effects. Learn how people lived in the communist dictatorship, listen to interesting stories about jammed radio stations, banana lines, black markets and illegal unemployment.

See the monumental communist statues of persons like Marx and Engels, Lenin and others. Get the impression from the tough looking Soviet soldiers, about the propaganda of the communist system.
Your guide will explain what the statues are about, what they symbolize, what propaganda they were spreading.

After the Statue Park the tour continues to the nearby wine cellar system of Budapest, which is one of the largest in the world, with a length of more than 30 kilometres inside of a limestone hill. The history of the wine cellar system goes back to more than 250 years, you can see very old wood curved oak casks, including the third largest oak cask of the world, the famous blessed Saint Stephan cask.

The guided walk inside the cellar system takes 30-40 minutes, where you can also learn a bit about wine making and ask everything, you always wanted to know about wine. After the walk we sit in a fancy wine tasting room, used for wine competitions and auctions and taste 10-12 special Hungarian wine from different regions.
Try the most famous dessert wine of Hungary: Tokay, and the special red wine: Bull’s Blood, learn about the way the make them. This is an interactive wine tasting for 1-1,5 hours, here you can talk to other travellers, share stories, change information and have FUN. Unlimited wine!
After the wine tasting your guide will accompany you to the minibus and drive you back to the meeting point of the tour.
